What is Farm Day Camp?

This summer we welcome children to join in the daily working of our farm.  Our mission is to teach young people about growing healthy food by engaging in the daily activities of a working, for-profit, family-run, diversified, organic farm.  Campers will physically experience the connections between growing and eating healthy foods and taking care of our bodies and our land.

Farm Day Camp

Ages 6-10 and Junior Counselor Volunteers Ages 12-15

Sessions Offered: July 12-16 and July 26-30 9:00-3:00 • $185 per week

Children will help in the daily operations and explorations of our farm.  After a morning circle, we begin the day with animal chores, feeding and watering our lambs, pigs, and chickens.  Over the course of the week we’ll partake in the full process of raising vegetables, herbs, and flowers from soil preparation, direct seeding and transplanting, to watering, weeding, harvesting, washing, and of course eating!  Kids will get dirty in our vegetable fields exploring how a seed turns into a head of lettuce and how many ladybugs live amongst the plants and weeds.  We will taste food as fresh as can be, although some kids may want to wipe off the dirt first.  Naturally, we will also save time for games, exploration, creative arts, and even some rest and relaxing with stories after lunch.

Girls Only!  Farm Day Camp

Girls entering grades 6-8 • One Session Offered August 9-13 9:00-3:00 • $185 per week

We will follow the same basic structure and activities as described above.  Additionally we’ll create a space for girls to connect with world wide traditions of women growing food, healing herbs, and raising animals.  Girls will have a chance to explore their own ideas of health, strength and their role in land stewardship through farm work, preparing fresh foods and herbs, creative activities, and discussions.

Morning Farm Camp for Preschoolers

Ages 3-5 June 28-July 2 9-12 noon • $130

This morning program will have the same goals and basic structure as farm day camp described above, with a shorter day, and with the flexibility and spirit to go with the curiosity and industriousness of the preschooler.

Afternoon Farm Camp for Middle Schoolers

Kids entering grades 6-8 • June 28-July 2 1:30-4:30 • $130

We want to give middle school aged students a chance to really explore what it is like to work on a farm, in the course of an afternoon.  Campers will get to know the farm, as described in the general camp program above, but we’ll have a chance to explore the farm and farm projects in greater depth.

One Day Programs

Ages 6-12  August 16 and/or August 18 9:00-3:00 • $40 per day

Sign up for one day at a time… one more chance to hang out on the farm before going back to school.  After a farm exploration in the morning, we’ll spend the day focusing on a particular theme, as below.

  • •Making pizzas from farm ingredients  Monday August 16
  • • Using herbs to make vinegars, oils, salves Wednesday August 18
