Farm Camp at Crystal Spring 2012
Dates for 2012 coming soon!
Junior counselor positions available!
In the summer we welcome children ages 4-15 to join us on our family-run organic farm. Campers will physically experience the connections between growing and eating healthy foods and taking care of our bodies and our land. After a morning circle, we begin the day with animal chores, feeding and watering our lambs, pigs, and chickens. Over the course of the week we’ll partake in the full process of raising vegetables, herbs, and flowers from soil preparation, direct seeding and transplanting, to watering, weeding, harvesting, washing, and of course eating! Kids will get dirty in our vegetable fields exploring how a seed turns into a head of lettuce and how many ladybugs live amongst the plants and weeds. We will taste food as fresh as can be. Our day will also include rest and relaxing with stories after lunch and through the week we’ll play different games, cooking projects, arts and exploring
We offer two week-long sessions for 4 and 5 year olds with a shortened day, and two week-long sessions for 6-11 year olds. 12-15 year olds serve as junior counselors for one or all four weeks, volunteering their time in exchange for experience with young children and farming.
Those interested in learning more about the junior counselor positions for 12-15 year old students please contact Maura at 729.1112 or maura@crystalspringcsa.com.
